How 50 Cent Made Half A Billion Dollars

How 50 Cent Made A Killing Off Water

In “The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop,” author Dan Charnas traces how rap grew from its obscure roots in the ghettos of 1970s New York to its culmination as the world’s predominant youth pop culture and a multibillion-dollar industry.

The event that epitomized just how far hip-hop had come was the headline-grabbing partnership between the rapper 50 Cent and the upstart beverage company Glaceau, the maker of VitaminWater. It may well have been the biggest deal in hip-hop history

Mayweather Turned Down $65 Million to Face Pacquiao

Pacquiao Camp Says Floyd Turned Down $65 Million to Face Pacquiao

Pound 4 Pound : Floyd Mayweather

Michael Koncz and Bob Arum both say that Floyd Mayweather Jr turned down a $65 million offer to fight Manny Pacquiao, according to Ronnie Nathanielsz. It's the latest non-development in the non-fight of the century.

Arum says that a group in Singapore was helping to put together the massive package, but that Mayweather demanded $10 million up front before he would even talk to the group.

Michael Koncz says much the same:

"Mayweather wanted the $10 million up front before he would event talk to them."

"There are no excuses this time, nobody to blame," said Koncz. "He just doesn’t want to fight Manny. Where are you going to get $65 million? Even after tax and everything it would come down to $30 or 40 million and that’s a lot of money."

Choose your side, everyone! Did Mayweather turn down $65 million? Probably not. It sounds more like, if anything, he turned down a meeting with some people he had no interest in meeting with for whatever reason. Maybe he didn't think a "group from Singapore" that handles casino events there was really worth his time. I mean, that really sounds more like the real story here than, "Floyd Turned Down $65 Million, Proves He's Huge Fraidy Cat."

To be totally honest, this just sounds like propaganda meant to further the belief that Mayweather is afraid to fight Pacquiao, so that's why it's not happening. I think most of us who are reasonable and assume neither side is 100% truthful and square about everything, we realize that a lot of this stuff is mud-slinging to avoid the greater issue, and to place blame on one party or another. The issue is they're not fighting and apparently nobody can get them to do so, and two years or so into the great public demand for the fight, we're no closer to seeing the one single fight in boxing that everyone would care about.

Oh well! That's boxing!
